Somalia is characterized by a growing youth population, 70% are less than 30 years of age of 14-29 year-old most of them; girl and boys are unemployed. Their access to a decent livelihood is rife with obstacles: lack of skills, linkages with conflicts, and capital for investment, as well as displacement-related vulnerabilities. Youth are associated with high unemployment and the correlated risks of instability. They are compelled to migrate in search of better livelihoods and opportunities away from their areas of origin. With this regard, Himilo Consulting is embarking on implementing different projects includes training for aspiring potential youth from local universities in two districts of Puntland namely; Bosaso and Garowe. The training was held at Bosaso and conducted on 8 days from 12th -20 November, 2021.
The objective of the youth empowerment Training program is to create business opportunities and encourage to take part local resources from varies sectors. This will help them to gain the necessary experience and enhance their self-confidence and to build their Entrepreneurship so that they can better address the needs of the market.
The senior trainer was engaged from prestigious universities to carry out the training for soft skills such; Project Management Professional, Business plan, Marketing Skills and Financial Management Concept; Youth Graduates to know more about the local Business opportunities plus how to modify their business idea to Business plan. At the end of the training, the aweless program expects that the participants will have the necessary skills to be more productive and increase their participation in the workforce, both in the self-employed and being employee.
For the last day, participants were thanked all those who participated in the process including funded institution and Himilo Consulting LTD, also thanked the lead trainers, Mr. M. Mahad and Abdinasir Osman for being willing to share their experiences, knowledge and skills and wished the trainee good luck and a successful Business venture.
